Join us for an evening of art, music, and conversation celebrating the opening of Paintings by Elena Kalman: Catastrophe and What Survives, a powerful new exhibition of recent works by Ukrainian-born artist Elena Kalman.
Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition, hear from artist Elena Kalman and TMORA Curator Dr. Masha Zavialova, and enjoy live music by Duo CORDA — cellist Jacqueline Ultan and guitarist Pavel Jany — whose repertoire blends jazz, classical, and international music traditions. Curated sweets and tea will be served.
Presented in TMORA’s Mezzanine Gallery, the exhibition reflects on moments of disruption and what endures beyond them. Kalman’s paintings depict landscapes, roads, and imagined environments marked by instability — falling trees, fractured structures, and distant explosions — alongside images of water, sky, and terrain that persist. Created during a time shaped by war and ongoing global uncertainty, the works place scenes of rupture in direct relation to the natural world.
