Join local artist Laura Brown at the TMORA Education Center for a paws-itively fun art workshop for kids and families, inspired by Cats and Dogs in Soviet Art. First, we’ll explore how our furry friends can be heroes, helpers, and even silly characters in art. Together, we’ll brainstorm the different “jobs” cats and dogs do and the many ways they show up in our lives and imaginations. Then it’s our turn to create! We’ll each pick an image of an animal and turn it into the star of our very own artwork. Using drawing and collage, Laura will help us to think like an artist about context and action: Where is your animal? What story is it telling? By imagining a new environment and composition for your animal, you’ll bring a one-of-a-kind scene to life and infuse it with your unique personality, creativity, and storytelling. Recommended for ages 5 and up, but all ages are welcome, accompanied by an adult. Free for TMORA members; $5 for non-members. Advance registration required.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop takes place at the TMORA Education Center, located at 5904 Pleasant Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55419.
